The Times reports that Bernardo   Silva,  a midfielder for Manchester   City, is being negotiated for by Paris   Saint-Germain.

The Portugal international who wants to leave the Etihad has also been strongly linked with Barcelona.

The Parisians are confident that Silva will move to France if a fee can be agreed upon with City because they do not have the financial problems that Barcelona is currently experiencing.

The 28-year-old, whose City contract runs through 2025, is also said to be available for as much as €70 million from PSG.

PSG will reportedly have no trouble offering Silva better personal terms, whereas Barcelona won't be able to make such a claim.

The Catalans have staked a lot of their hopes for the signing of Silva on his desire to play for them. Although Jules Kounde is still unregistered, the club's other four summer additions "Robert Lewandowski, Raphinha, Andreas Christensen, and Franck Kessie" were registered the day before last Saturday's season opener, indicating that they still need to free up more salary space if they want to sign any more players.

Regarding PSG, the Ligue 1 champions brought in Hugo Ekitike on loan from Reims in addition to permanently signing Vitinha, Renato Sanches, Nordi Mukiele, and Nuno Mendes this summer.

FC Barcelona has been putting a lot of effort into trying to sign the attacking midfielder from Portugal since the start of the summer transfer window (70 caps). Due to their financial struggles, the Blaugrana, who still haven't been able to register Jules Koundé's La Liga contract, could be surpassed by PSG; however, Manchester City will need to be persuaded to release their 28-year-old player.

Bernardo Silva, who joined the Citizens in the summer of 2017 for a transfer fee of 50 million euros, has not seen much action this year. In fact, the former Monegasque came off the bench to start the opening two Premier League games against West Ham (2-0) and Bournemouth (4-0). (note: he played 37 minutes in total). Why would he want to go back to Ligue 1 before the month of August is over?
