Qatar hosts the FIFA World Cup from November 20 to December 18, 2022 |
The World Cup will visit winter for the first time ever. The 32 eligible nations will assemble in Qatar from November 20 to December 18 for the major explanation. The mythical gold cup was lifted after nearly a month of ferocious battles with the goal of hanging a star above the national crest.
- What is the competition's structure, and which nations have qualified?
For the time being, we are not altering a strategy that has worked so well for the World Cup. The first round of the competition consists of eight groups of four teams, each with a name starting with the letter A through H.
Group A: Qatar, Ecuador, Senegal, Netherlands
Group B: England, Iran, USA, Wales
Group C: Argentina, Saudi Arabia, Mexico, Poland
Group D: France, Australia, Denmark, Tunisia
Group E: Spain, Costa Rica, Germany, Japan
Group F: Belgium, Canada, Morocco, Croatia
Group G: Brazil, Serbia, Switzerland, Cameroon
Group H: Portugal, Ghana, Uruguay, South Korea
The first two of each group qualify for the round of 16 (December 3-6), before continuing with the quarter-finals (December 9-10), the semi-finals (December 13-14), the match for 3rd place ( December 17) and the final (December 18).
- What cities and stadiums will the competition be held in?
Throughout the competition, competitors and spectators will be housed in eight enclosures. Only the Khalifa International Stadium in Doha was constructed before Qatar was given the World Cup (1976). In addition, 974 Stadium, which will be demolished after the competition, and Al-Thumama Stadium are located in the emirate's capital.
The four other cities chosen were Al-Khor, Al-Rayyan, Al-Wakrah, and Lusail. The grand finale will take place in the latter, which has the highest capacity (80,000 seats) among the current sites.
- When and which television stations can I watch the 2022 World Cup?
64 meetings occurred in under a month. There will be matches played at 11 a.m., 2 p.m., 4 p.m., 5 p.m., and 8 p.m. for football fans to enjoy. The channels they will be able to watch football on are still to be determined.
The matches will be aired live in France by TF1 and beIN Sports, as they were in the World Cup's first two iterations.
With the exception being that the channel launched in 2012 will be the only one to offer the entire competition on its channel, when "La Une" will broadcast 28 matches throughout the World Cup, including the opening match, the three Blues in the group stage, five round of 16, three quarter-finals, the two semi-finals, the match for third place, and the final.
- What are the games you shouldn't miss?
The schedule already includes a number of tantalizing matches from the outset of the World Cup. On November 21, Senegal, the champion of the 2022 African Cup of Nations, takes on the Netherlands in a crucial matchup in group A. Obviously, it will be widely watched when the Blues face Australia on November 22. Nevertheless, you will have to wait until Sunday, November 27 when Spain and Germany square off for the group stage's biggest shock.
Here is a non-exhaustive selection of the beautiful posters of this group stage:
Monday, November 21: Senegal-Netherlands (5 p.m.)
Tuesday, November 22: France-Australia (8 p.m.)
Saturday 26 November: France-Denmark (5 p.m.)
Sunday 27 November: Spain-Germany (8 p.m.)
Monday, November 28: Brazil-Switzerland (5 p.m.)
Monday, November 28: Portugal-Uruguay (8 p.m.)
Wednesday, November 30: Tunisia-France (4 p.m.)
Thursday, December 1: Croatia-Belgium (4 p.m.)
- Who is favored with making predictions?
The oddsmakers predict that Brazil will become the favorite before the start of this tournament in 2022. The Seleçao is the major contender for the top title 20 years after its coronations in Korea and Japan. The South American opponent Argentina and the defending world champion France team are side by side in the back.
England, who lost to Spain in the final of the most recent Euro, and Spain, the 2010 world winners, aim to defy the odds. Germany, the final member of the top 6, finished first in 2014 and will be paired with La Roja for the first surprise victory.
- Semi-automatic offside's novelty
The semi-automatic offside, which has been in use in the Champions League since this season, will make its World Cup debut. What does it include? In a nutshell, it makes it easier to detect offside - thanks to 3D modeling in wide shoots, diagonal shootings, and near shots - without, however, displacing the refereeing body's judgement.
Each time the ball is received by an attacker who is in an offside position at the moment the pass is made, officials in charge of video assistance receive an alert. Before referring to the central referee, instruct these video referees to confirm that there is offside (thus the semi-automatic mention).
