 Argentina is looking to make up for its shock 2-1 defeat by Saudi Arabia at the start of its FIFA World Cup campaign in Qatar, as it prepares to face Mexico in Group C in a must-win match.

The Argentines also want to reclaim their spot as one of the tournament's top favorites.

In a news conference on Friday, striker Lautaro Martinez said, "It will be a final match for us because it will reveal how much we want to contend for the World Cup crown."

Losing against Saudi Arabia was a major blow to our morale, but we are a very strong and cohesive team.

"We must maintain our composure, regroup, and focus on the upcoming game against Mexico. So, regardless of what, we must concentrate on winning."

Martinez said that Argentina dominated the match against Saudi Arabia and did not deserve to lose after the referee ruled out three goals for offside.

 Argentina will now face an opponent beset by a lack of goals and injury after Mexico drew 0-0 in their opening match against Poland and avoided defeat thanks to goalkeeper Guillermo Ochoa's superb save from Robert Lewandowski's penalty.

"We are really upbeat, and I believe we lost due of the minute aspects and our errors. I believe we are prepared since we have researched our next opponent, Lautaro remarked.

Despite rumors of a potential ankle injury, coach Lionel Scaloni stated Lionel Messi was healthy and prepared to play and was optimistic that his team could bounce back from the opening-game loss.

When you fall, you must get back up, remarked Scaloni. I believe my team will rebound.

We won't alter our style of play as a result of the defeat against Saudi Arabia. We won't modify our style, but I could make one or two lineup adjustments.
