Sevilla FC defeated Juventus Turin on Thursday to earn a spot in the Europa League final against AS Roma on May 31 in Budapest, the winner of which will face Bayer Leverkusen.  Fiorentina won the Europa League Conference and advanced to their first European championship match against FC Basel since 1990.  against June 7 in Prague, the Italians will take against West Ham, who defeated AZ Alkmaar.

AS Roma on defense, Sevilla on experience

 The Europa League is indeed ruled by Sevilla FC.  On May 18, the Andalusians defeated Juventus in overtime (2-1) in a melting Sanchez Pizjuan to advance to the championship game.

 After an hour, though, Dusan Vlahovic came on and scored against Bono (65'), giving the Italians the lead.  Suso, however, promptly brought the Sevillians back to life with an exquisite strike (71'), which inspired the crowd to a wildly irrational conclusion to the game.  Assisted by his fans, Erik Lamela's header in the 95th minute marked the beginning of qualifying.

In the final, they will face Mourinho's AS Roma team, who, in keeping with who he is, chose not to play to maintain the score of 0-0. The Romans defeated Leverkusen with a late strike, winning their second straight European championship.

 So, on May 31, Sevilla and AS Roma will square off in Budapest for a chance at a trophy as well as a prized Champions League ticket.

The final features West Ham and Fiorentina.

 In the very last second of their match against FC Basel (3-1), Fiorentina advanced to their first European championship since 1990. Viola must exact retribution after losing the first leg in overtime. Nicolas Gonzalez, who scored a double and twice gave his team the edge (at 35 and 72 seconds), helped the Italians come back in the double confrontation.

 Zeki Amdouni, who scored last week, did it again tonight (55'), prolonging Swiss hopes. The Fio, however, had the final say. In the 129th minute of play, Antonin Barak stunned an entire club and won the Florentines a historic victory.

No shocks occurred in the other semifinal. West Ham reaffirmed their favorable outcome. After Pablo Fornals' goal at the very end of the game (90 + 6'), the Hamers prevailed and received their ticket to the pitch of AZ Alkmaar (1-0).
